Round 3 of headers drop today. Going to try to knock out the exhaust this week if they fit. Fingers crossed....

This week/weekend/next week is going to be rebuilding the front axle, finishing the skid, and then pulling the 5.3 out. Hoping for more jeep productivity this week...

Round 4 of headers may work.....facepalm

Hopefully they make it by the weekend so keep the above plan. If not, re-group and start on axle this week instead. Gotta measure driveshafts soon and go see Carolina Driveline next week.

What have you tried and what interference are you running into?

It had the AA block huggers on it and they were extremely tight to the upper link. So, I tried some for an S-10 LS swap but they hit the upper immediately at the flange. Then I tried some for a C-10 LS swap, they hit the tub. The stainless version block hugger is very close to the AA header I had but with the suspension fully compressed there just isn't enough room.

I should have bought what I used on Ram-Rod day one, but I was being cheap and also wanted to do a V-Band clamp without having to weld it on. Also, the BBK headers were pretty pricey and the coating turned to shit quickly. I ended up finding some ebay specials for a 6.2 Camaro SS (same thing I used on Ram-Rod basicially). They exit at the rear of the block and up fairly high. I think they are going to work, but if not, I will cut the flange off and move it up.

Doesn't look like returns are going to be an issue though, so in the end I won't be out much...

Got some room for activities now. Also got my shafts in today. Waiting on the header collectors to get here and can start the exhaust. Hoping for progress this weekend.

Got the exhaust fitted up today. Will have The Todd tig it up for me while the motor is out. So, looks like I can finish the skid tomorrow and may yank the engine this weekend.

Had a good day in the shop. Got the skid plate for the trans and oil pan finished less the UHMW for the bottom. I cut the case cross member and put some tube flanges in. Still have to do some plate for the case when I drop all of that down. Got the exhaust ready to come out and have it welded up.

Took the roll cage out of the blue tub. Got some rust repair under there. No surprise really. Just one more piece to the puzzle. Still planning to have it ready for Harlan.

Got the UHMW cut and drilled the holes in the engine/trans to mount it. Started painting the front axle parts and skid plate.

This week I will start putting the front end together and probably finish up the wiring loom so it’s ready to go in. Next weekend I plan to hit the new tub really hard starting to get it ready and pull the engine out to take to the machine shop.

Trans pan was pretty beat down and leaking so figured I’d swap it out tonight and do a filter and gasket. Well, new pan is about 1/4” deeper probably due to it being aftermarket and not beat to crap.... freaking skid has to be modified now. Won’t be a big ordeal but just add that to the list of to-do’s.

Had to take a day off of the CJ to swap the C/O springs in the Camaro before RTTS in a couple weeks. Got to adjust them tomorrow and will be back on the CJ. Plan is to try to finish all of the frame and crossmember welding.

Did get the old tub moved around the back side of the shop and the new one on stands ready to work on it.

Not as much Jeep things happened today as anticipated. Got the car cleaned up and ready though. One more crank session on the C/O’s next week.
I did manage to get most of the welding/grinding on the frame done though. Still have to do the cross member stuff.

Got a decent jump on the tub last night and tonight. Got all of the belts and other stuck tub hardware cut out last night and got all of the other hardware out of the tub last night. Tonight I got the passenger side rust cut out of the tub 90%. Ran out of daylight so probably have a couple hours of rust cutting tomorrow. I got the better part of the t-case skid plated and welded tonight also.

Weekend plans:
Finish skid 100% and bolt back in place along with trans and case.
Cut remaining rust out and get patch panels in.
Scuff and semi-final paint on frame.
Sandblast the hot spots on the frame and paint with rust inhibitor.
Possibly get some of the prep work done for the bedliner later.
I would love to set the tub in place and get all of the cutting done this weekend but will need a few hands and not sure I’ll get that this weekend.

Rain sorta shot the tub progress down today since it was outside. I did get one side in and the other side welded. Still have to do the finish work on both and do the back portion. I’d say another good 4 hours on the floor unfortunately.
I did get the frame almost finished. Have two brackets left to cut off once the front is back together. Got the first coat of paint on the entire frame also.

All I can tell you boys is the beer virus must be a Jeep fan. They canceled Run to the Sun so I have an extra weekend of Jeep building between now and Harlan. Should put me in a pretty good spot.
Got all the floor panels In and welded. Still have some finish work to do on them but a couple hours and it will be finished. Got the skids 100%, stripped and painted the trans with hi temp paint, and remounted the steering box. I hated to paint the trans but a little paint didn’t want to come off, so had to go back black.
One thing I’ve been planning to make that would be great to just buy and adapt my Jeep is a steering box skid. Does anyone have one laying around??

Floors are completed. Fender flares removed. Still have to flip the old tub up and mark the new one where all the bracing has to be removed. Will have to sit it on the frame to Mark where it will get cut for the case clearance. Hopefully next weekend I can get all of that knocked out and start getting the tub prepped for bedliner.

Got the shocks all back on today. Got the 14 Bolt painted and cover back on. Got the pinion guard and new U-Bolt style yoke installed.

I also started assembling the front 60. Got the shafts assembled (super joints suck to put in). Plan is to pack bearings and finish assembling the front this week that way I can put the tires on and mimic ride height so I can measure for the new drive shafts.

Hoping for cage work to start 2nd weekend in April. We will see how it goes.
