Mean Green

I installed a new caliper this weekend and did a coolant flush. It was the first time I have worked on my Jeep without Miller slobbering over me in 5 years. In case anyone didn't know, he was hit by a car and killed in my neighborhood of 25mph. Not sure how that happens. Even worse, it was a trike that killed him. I'm supposed to be picking up another Springer in Asheville on the way to Harlan if his flight is on time. We are going to take Miller's collar up to the stadium and hang it from a tree limb. I also noticed cracked welds around my trackbar and possible around one of the shock towers. I guess I have a few things to figure out now.

Worked on the Jeep all day today. Aside from a little welding on the trackbar bracket, she is ready to roll. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1396208847.615188.jpg

She is running great right now. I have a makeshift aluminum tailgate going on this week too.

Looking good as alway Nick. You should look up that guy on here that has the old Renegade stickers on his green TJ and see if he would mind you copying his idea.........comawwwn!

Thx fellas. I noticed yesterday that I have a wasted suspension bushing in the front lower control arm. I will have one here tomorrow. Does anyone in Greenwood have some arbor plates I could use to press the old bushing out and new one in? I have a press but no arbor plates. I may just have to try to use makeshift ones.

Thx. The old bushing fell out like a fart in the wind and the new one slid in like squirt fart diarrhea. I've never had them do me like that. I used my vice but it could have been done without probably. Oscar or bust baby

Maybe it's time to do away with the cowl intake. No wonder it didn't idle crawl as good late in the trip.
Looks like I broke a hub too.

These are good seals here.

These slinger things are trash. I believe they are the stock style right?

The hub on that side was slam full of mud, rocks, rust and water. The broken hub was on the side where I forgot to install the axle snap ring at Windrock. Forgot all about it.
Anybody need any of this 30 spline 60 stuff? I have another set of stubs too. Gonna be listing it all soon.

I don't believe that slinger is responsible for all this mud intrusion but certainly the water. It's either that or the hub seal. If it was the slinger than the mud would have had to travel through the inside of the spindle around the shaft.

I guess it's a little bit of both.

I cleaned it up and realized the bearings were totally wasted.

These were all new everything when I built the axle. I replaced the slinger on the driver side at Windrock with a v notch seal and that hub is spotless inside. I don't know but either way everything is getting replaced.
Anyone have any pros or cons on Alloy USA shafts? I was going to get some 35 sp outlets and they seemed to be alot less than Yukon.

I just got the Rock Auto Kit. It was a straight up Yukon 4340 35 spline Cromo Axle Kit #YA W26010 for only $412.00. It came in a US Standard Gear box but everything inside was Yukon with Spicer joints and Timken Bearings. What a deal. I bought the bearings extra, they were not included in that price. They too were in Yukon packaging. Thanks George!

Good info. Each shafts item# tag matched the Yukon # sold at Randy's and elsewhere. It would not make a bit of difference to me either way. They only have a 12 month warranty versus 10 yr or lifetime on the high dollar ones. Who provided that info that you posted?

Installed a new radiator overflow. My borrowed CJ one didn't hold up to the Harlan punishment.

Had to grind a bit here for the Grant GM#5196 adapter.

Installed this wheel that I absolutely hate. Already ordered another one.

It's not the look that I did not like, the wheel is just very cheaply made and too small at 13.5" It also has a terrible feeling foam grip. It's garbage. I also can't get my finger between it and the wiper switch. Got a 14.5 coming with hopefully a better grip.
