ALTRDTJ build

#41
So i got it from my buddy zach savage, he designed and cut it out on his plasma table. He built it when his daughter was younger so she could ride as well. I will get better pictures upclose of it but it pretty much works the same way as the anchor points in your car. The seatbelt style carseat latches will click into the base of the kid cage to secure the carseat to the base. The main hoop of the kid cage comes above the top of the carseat much as a regular roll cage does for the passengers inside.

Well i did a little horse trading with a guy and ended up with a running driving 2000 gmc yukon XL with 160xxx miles. Not sure quite yet what my plan is as i wasnt even considering an engine swap. May clean it up and try to sell it or i may pull the engine trans and tcase to go in the tj. Time will tell.

First off cheers! Okay pretty good update tonight. Got all the front link brackets tacked in place and ready to start working on the track bar placement. I eneded up cutting off the passenger side lower link mount at the axle and moving it over as far out on the tube as i could so it would match the driver side. I have 5¹/² inches of link separation at the frame and 9 inches at the axle. Seems good to me. Ive never really been one to use a link calculator, just always put things where they fit, maybe im wrong but they cant go where they cant fit...plan is to get a track bar in it this week so i can work on getting the coilovers in this weekend. Saturday is going to be a busy day, but hopefully itll be off the jack stands by saturday afternoon if all goes well

two things:

why did you add a bend to the parallel B pillar here? wouldnt it be stronger and match better as a straight bar?

and make sure that you get full steering with the link mounts that far out, I made that mistake on my front axle, but I know your axle is a lot wider, so you may not have that problem.

I bent the 2nd b pillar bar because i thought it looked good, with the factory b still intact anything extra is only to make it stronger. As far as the steering goes, i never had an issue with the driver side being all the way out on the tube so shouldn't be an issue. Ill never get full steering with the super duty 60 and an 8 inch ram anyhow, they have a crazy amount of steering angle. I am running H2 wheels for now but i have a set of beadlocks sitting in the garage for it that at some point will get installed.

Got a good bit done today, started early at 8 am and worked till about 3. Was able to get all the front suspension mocked up. So far everything clears, the coilover will be pretty close once the springs are on but they should clear! Still need to assembly the front axle and get the steering back on to make sure everything is going to clear with the track bar.

So i had to change up the upper front shock tabs. Springs on the C/Os were hitting at full droop. So i got a set of barnes tube shock brackets and outboarded the shock and gained a good bitna clearance between the Springs and frame. Still close at full droop but there is a 1/2 inch of space now which i am happy about!
