New to me Wrangler

#23
I made lots of progress this weekend. I always have good intentions of documenting my projects, but as usual, I forgot to take pics... So here's a few pics of the progress.

I was hoping to not open a can of worms with this project. Everything has gone relatively smooth so far. There was only 1 victim of the entire process - a sway bar link broke.

I have a few things I need to get done before reassembly:

  • install new brake lines
  • clean up the skid plate
  • buy some new bolts
  • clean up and paint various parts

I removed the front end on Saturday morning.

This is what it looks like when a Wrangler explodes in your garage.

Ha, I wish! The plan is to reassemble on March 4-6. I'm currently compiling a list of some parts I'd like to replace before it goes back together. Trying to ball on a budget here lol

I'll have to take a few photos of it tonight. It has some pretty bad spots and had been patched already.

Edit: here's one I found on my phone

Yeah... that's pretty bad. Where did it come from? Tripp said you found some other issues like brake lines?

It came from an older lady in Virginia Beach. I discovered the lines were rusted really bad by the shock towers when I took off the inner fenders. So I'm replacing all of the brake line. The fuel line was fine. There are a few other parts I'm going to replace while I have it torn apart.

Not to much progress this weekend. I got some bump stop cups from Larry. The old ones looked like Swiss after cleaning them up... I believe I have all of the new parts I need for putting it back together. I also cleaned up and painted some suspension components this weekend. The plan is to have the body back on early Saturday morning and hopefully have it running by the end of the day.
