Go the the scrap yard off fairfield road. They always have huge quarter inch sheets there. My skid plate was about 2x4 and i think it was 32 bucks or something with a 10 dollar charge for a torch cut. Was also barely even rusted. That's gonna be close to the cheapest you're gonna find metal for.
