The Silver Bullet

According to Jeep forum, unless you have 6" of uptravel your rig will never work! :la:
He also has a lp44, so according to JF he'll never make it past the trailhead.
So true haha I'm just trying to get more than 2 inches of up travel before my drag link is on the frame.

And yeah jake it's gonna strip the ring gear the second it hits dirt, should have gone with a hp 30 cause according to jeep forum they are stronger :la:

And yeah Matt your rig will never work, buggies have to have 12 inches of up travel, down travel doesn't work

if you need more room between your pitman arm and tie rod you can move the tie rod to below the knuckle like ronnie is running his. That would give you a few inches. and its 1.5"x.25... I think it can take the abuse.

That's actually what I have been talking about doing. I think it's plenty plenty beef to take the beating. And it still is higher or the same height as the Dana 30 stuff and I never hit that stuff that often. That would open up like 6 inches between contact which is plenty.

Going to try to redo my track bar. Flip the Heims on the drag link below the high steer arm, flip the tie rod below the knuckle and set up travel. So hopefully I won't be on bumps all day long at Harlan

Copied from my JF build

Well i got a good bit of work done today. Got started working on it tonight. I'm gonna have a good bit more work than intended... I didn't realize I had done so much stuff wrong the first time i did it. I guess you learn as you go... It's also very hard to have a jeep at my height with adequate up travel.

Started the night off by flipping the drag link and tie rod to below the knuckle and high steer arm.

then I cut off the track bar, and tacked it in its new location. This should keep the track bar from hitting the harmonic balancer

You can kinda see what i'm talking about in this picture.

This is where i thought i'd be done doing stuff before setting up travel, but i was looking at everything and turns out i made my truss way too big. I'm going to have to redo a very large portion of it on the passenger side of the diff. As it is now, i have about 3.5 inches between the truss and the oil pan/harmonic balancer. Tomorrow will be filled with cut off wheel fun

These pictures kinda shows it, but you almost need to be under the jeep to see where its at.

Got a whole lot of work done on the jeep today. I have somewhere around 5.5 inches of up travel. And that is literally maxing everything out. At that point the track bar bracket wants to go into the coil bucket, truss is close to the oil pan, the track bar bracket on the axle wants to go into the frame and there is almost not room left between the tie rod and pitman arm. I'm happy with how it turned out though. Will be much better than it was.

Truss all cut up. It's a pretty ugly truss now but I had to do it.

Cut track bar bracket at the frame and full bump shots.

Here it is on it's own weight. Drove it back to campus tonight. Steering wheel want straight at all, and alignment ain't right cause it handles a little funky. But all in all it works. Today was a long day laying on concrete

Well did more work on the jeep today. I first started off by taking the hubs apart, because i had a little play in my hub. Found out I was missing the locking nut from my other buddy who has a 44. So apparently the person who had the axle before me wasn't running a locking nut either. I put locking nuts on both sides and tightened it all down. Also set the toe to 1/8th inch toe in and centered my steering wheel. She drives like a caddy on the road again! :D

Also flexed the jeep out today to check it for clearances. At full lock to the side the tire is stuffed in, the tire rubs the shock mount. I didn't take a picture, but i definitely want to do something about it. I may just add some wheel spacers and call it a day, cause I really don't want to cut those shock mounts out again and have to move the inboard. Wheel spacers would also protect the hub a good bit more from rocks though.. Oh well enough talking here is some pictures.

The Jeep looks real good Mason. That trackbar bracket looks dangerous though. Thats a bracket that you don't want to play chicken with.
