Would someone with a TJ do me a favor and measure the length from the center of the hoop over the rear axle and the rear crossmember?

My rear crossmember is trashed and the mounting of my coil brackets will be easier with a flat frame to work with. Trying to figure out how much box i'm probably going to need. Something of this nature.

Would 1/8 be too thin of material to use for the 2x4? I've got 1/4 to plate it with and place I buy steel from has 1/8 in stock for considerably cheaper then 3/16 and 1/4 both of which he'd have to order.

what exactly are you planning to do with it? 1/8" is no thinner than the DOM many people use, but if you plan to weld anything to it you will need to plate it or it will rip out....ask me how I know.

Cutting my frame middle of the arch in wheelwell and building new frame from there. It will make stretching it easier in rear and take care of my messed up crossmember problem. I think if I fish plate it at the joints it should be fine as the stock frame is 1/8. Look at the two posts I linked on the original post, something along the lines of it.

I was going to notch the frame to get my upper coil moubt to sit like i wanted but figured it would be easier to do it this way plus tuck a rear bumper up closer to body.
