Yeah it is, some Proline Crawlers, a paint job, an 8274, and some 90mm shocks and it would be pretty spot on.

His Birthday is 1/25, so that may happen...haha

He's a little young yet though. I got him a$16 one that he had a fit over in ChYna Freight.

So, bouncing this back.

Christmas likely holds a place for Braz and I a new RC crawler. He has been wanting to play with my old one and the electronics are shot on it, so it's super finicky and breaks often.

We got LMT Mini monster trucks last year. Those have been an absolute blast and have really taught him some control both with RC and self.

What is the RC guru's opinion... should I go with two of these CJ's or is there a much better out of the box (upgradable in future) option I should be looking at?? I'd like the best bang for the buck but don't have to be a cheap skate per-se.

Its really hard to beat the durability and simplicity of the traxxas TRX4. I'd go with whatever model you want, I've bought all of mine used for $300-350. The Sport model doesnt have the lockers or 2 speed so it saves some complexity and its a little cheaper. Two that I have bought used still had the box so you could pass them off as christmas presents haha.
