Looking for some Bent 1/4'' steel scrap

Hey guys, as the title says, I'm looking for a few pieces of bent 1/4'' scrap steel. I don't need anything big at all. Reason being is I need to beef up my hitch receiver.
Basically, I need to turn this:

back into this:

The reason it was cut was that it was hitting my gas tank, and I figured cutting off a portion would be fine for a max towing weight off about 500lbs, but I'm just going on the safe side, and I want to weld a section on to allow the original mounting locations to be used.

I'd love to get these free, so let me know

Ok, anyone know where I can get small pieces of 1/4'' steel? Or does anybody have any scrap lying around?

What is the length of the flat areas? I have some angle iron, but i beleive it is 3/8 thick, possibly may have some 1/4 inch angle iron.

Anywhere from 3'' to 6''. I want to make this as neat as possible, but let me know what you've got.

Ok, now I'm just looking for any 1/4" steel. If anyone knows where I can get some for cheap or free, let me know cause I need to reinforce this receiver.

I just looked. I have a 3/8 thick, 3x4 piece of angle iron you can have. i am over the lake in lexington.
