July 2026 - Summer in West Virginia

#1
Emily, Ava and I had been discussing exploring West Virginia for a few years, after doing a lot of research we realized its just too large to cover in one trip, so we managed a simplified Southern Tour and we will do the Northern WV tour at a later date.

It started with just Emily and I headed up for our anniversary trip in TN at a quiet Hipcamp at Belmont Farms. We spent the weekend relaxing, playing card games and enjoying the cool air in the shade on the mountain. We drove the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail one day and had an ice cream stop in Pigeon Forge. Belmont Farms Hipcamp is a working farm with a full hookup site.

We swung by SC and picked up Ava from her mom and headed to NC on our way to WV. We stayed at another cool hipcamp in Charlotte right on a stream with a waterfall and sliding rock.

We left the waterfall campsite near Charlotte and headed to Greenbrier State Forest campground. We ventured out from there to the town of White Sulfur Springs and visited Lost World Caverns. Lots of interesting things to see in this area.

Spent the last night of our trip at a remote hip camp on top of a mountain. The dogs got to run, we hiked around a little and had a fire. The weather was beautiful. It was a nice getaway from the campgrounds of the week.
