I'll probably keep looking for a 44 but at this point I'm just going to beef up the 30. Plus I got the whole jeep minus the engine for $100 so I don't have much into it at this point. Anyway I'll go ahead and get the shafts from you. No hurry on getting tem down here though since I won't do the swap til this summer.
I'm swapping out the IFS in my Sport Trac. I want to stay narrow trac and at least be able to get wheel adapters to fit 5x4.5 pattern and so far I've only found low pinion 44s that fit the bill.
I know we're cluttering up Mason's thread, but you probably need an early bronco 44 to get the width right, or a TJ Rubi axle would be sweet. Doesn't your sport track have the coilover kit? That's a nice setup...
That's not a terrible idea a lot of explorer guys to that swap. The 4wheel and OffRoad ranger has one too. On te other hand I would run that ifs. Our explorer has been exceptionally reliable with it. It is actually a fairly beefy setup. Basically what I have found out is a solid axle will not improve its performance enough to justify money spent and will really not be any more capable without going waaaaaaay to the next step. Throw some lockers and gears in the biatch and rock it like it is. We have wheeled ours pretty hard for 4+ years and it has never ever given an issue.
Most on here can tell you that I rarely think of vehicle preservation while wheeling and tend to have a stupid foot placing vehicles where they have little business being.
An EB or f150 is the right width but almost all came with LP44s and drum brakes. I don't think the kit is sold anymore, and everyone that goes coilovers just goes custom. There's not much out there for the STs at all.
Nah it's 60" from mounting surface to mounting surface. Same as a stock ST. Problem is both the EB and the waggy axles in decent shape are darn near impossible to find under a grand which I'd only spend on 1 tons.

I guess I was mixing information. HP44s are harder to come by (at least everywhere I have looked). Thanks for the link, Ive read that a couple times but its good to refresh the memory.
