Great day spent with Morgan owner of Piedmont Performance and Diesel (and builder of the YJ), Eddie riding shotgun, and John-who was trail guide and arranged with Morgan to get us some wheel time near Uwharrie. Under construction for 2+ years, it was the YJ's first shakedown. The rig is designed to travel on and off road, and it does both. Nothing broke, and it performed exactly as designed. It won't be finished for another month or two.

It performed as designed with no issues. Road and trail...but it's a bit slow on the road...need to get the torque converter lockup working and air back up before hitting the asphalt-I was running 10psig. Build details...best I recall...it's been a journey:

  • Jeep 4.0L high output inline 6, 70K miles, original engine
  • 110" hub to hub
  • About 22 inches to skid
  • Tub floor tunnel cut up, frankensteined back together and artfully massaged with a BFH to avoid body lift
  • Hesco damper/crank sensor kit-relocates CPS to front damper from bell housing
  • American Racing Headers 3” stainless exhaust. Crop dusts out the passy side in front of rear tire
  • NOVAK 700R4 reverse manual valve body, level II build, crawler stall, manual torque converter lockup
  • Sand Hollow Offroad Speed Shifter-gateless, allows quick slam reverse
  • Atlas 4.3:1, 2 speed
  • 1979 Ford Snowfighter Dana 60 axles, HP front. Rear tubes bored to accept 35 spline axle, front 35 spline
  • Yukon diff covers
  • Spartan lockers front and rear...this may change in the front to selectable
  • Redneck Ram hydro steering assist
  • Redneck Ram rebuilt steering box (relocated to front of Jeep)
  • Bored out OEM power steering pump-this is the only official work I did on the Jeep...LMAO
  • 1995 YJ brake booster
  • 5.38 Yukons
  • 35 spline Yukons
  • Yukon locking hubs
  • Carolina Driveshafts shafts
  • 1410 U joints
  • Raceline 17” beadlocks-double spacers for the ridiculous Intercos
  • Interco 43” TSLs
  • King 14” coils F&R, remote rez, supplied by Genright
  • King bump stops
  • Genright double triangulated rear suspension, center frame and rear axle trusses, 3 link front
  • High clearance rear fender liners
  • Reid knuckles
  • Chevrolet dual piston calipers front and rear
  • Manual line lock for rear brakes
  • Artec steering arms and front truss
  • Genright full cage with ABC pillar ties
  • Genright transmission and oil pan skid plate
  • Genright body armor rear
  • Motobuilt cowl armor front
  • Custom tube fenders
  • Custom shock hoops
  • Dave's Customs Unlimited boat sides
  • Motobuilt back half
  • Motobuilt 19 gallon fuel cell
  • PRP seats and 4 point harnesses
  • Limit straps front and rear
  • Warn 9000 front and 8000 rear winches
  • Removeable windshield
  • Bestop canvas top and glass sliding upper half doors
  • Factory A/C...LOL
  • Transmission cooler
  • Power steering cooler
  • Cold Case aluminum radiator
  • OEM clutch fan and shroud
  • Midland GMRS
What is original to the YJ is the front half of the frame-although it's been frenched and modified, tub, dashboard,, A/C and heat, and 4.0L long block. Cage and all tube work is entirely removable with just a few cuts so I can replace the tub as I destroy it.:grinpimp:
