This throws a serious kink in my plans for our anniversary. Seems NC 12 is washed out in numerous places.
WASHED OUT NC 12
Re-entry to the Outer Banks begins
Dare County, with the exception of Hatteras Island and the town of Duck, will be open to the general public beginning at noon today. Duck began re-entry for residents, property owners and business owners Sunday evening and visitors will be welcome beginning Tuesday at 10 a.m. There is no scheduled re-entry to Hatteras Island as a result of the damage to N.C. 12. Ferry access is currently limited to emergency operations.
Corolla and Carova Beach were opened on a limited basis Sunday evening to year-round residents, property owners and people with priority I or II passes. The Currituck Outer Banks remains closed to visitors until further notice.
Re-entry to Ocracoke Island is limited to essential personnel to make infrastructure and utility repairs. Limited re-entry has also begun on mainland Hyde County.
