Just for your info, I'd look for a 1995-2001 so you get disks. Gear ratio doesn't matter because you'll be regearing to match yours (4.56 or 4.88?). What's your locker plan? If you want to do a lunchbox locker look for open diff. If you want limited slip get a factory one, or if you plan to do a full carrier it doesn't matter. You'll also need the driveshaft flange from a ranger (rangers have the same 1310 ujoint as your jeep but explorers have a 1330 joint) or you can buy that part online.
