Car Hacking

Saw this over on NC4x4 and thought it was an interesting read.

Basically, two hackers have figured out how to hack Chrysler / Fiat's Uconnect and take control of vehicle systems. They've proven they could disable (or take control of and crash) a 2013-2015 Cherokee.
thats a bit scary, driving our JK does make you feel like the vehicle is in control though. So many electronic things that I have no way of troubleshooting.

I actually saw the Prius video a couple years ago... Programmers/Designers must be accountable for what they design/code.
Weeeelllllllll... The people who are best at designing the systems and the people who are best at securing them are most likely different people. I would say the manufacturer who is putting the systems in the market is responsible for ensuring they have the right people on their team. But, there are always going to be vulnerabilities. If someone can dream it up, someone else out there can exploit it...
