Belly Up and Engine skids

#28
I'm late to the party, but here's what I built for mine a few years ago. Probably way overbuilt. I used 1.5"x3/16 wall square tube, some 3x3x1/4" angle for the mounts, and skinned it will 3/16" plate. It's taken some abuse over the years and still going strong.

Raw aluminum. To paint or not to paint? I know it will get scratched up, bUT thinking glossy paint might help keep mud from sticking.

Let's be honest it's under the jeep, no one is ever gonna be like dam your skid is really dirty unless you roll over. And even if it's painted it's still gonna get nasty

My question had nothing to do with appearance. Only thinking would it be easier to hose out if painted glossy. Answer is yes. Will I do it? Probably not...
