1997 Jeep Wrangler All Guages Dead

#42
did some more research....

It's directly tied to the blower motor. I can run the heat on low or medium fine, but when i run anything on High Fan, all gauges die. After turning it off the gauges come back in maybe 5 minutes.

What the heck?

Got to be a high resistance connection somewhere, or weak alternator. You might need to bust out the ole Fluke and take some voltage measurements with and without the fan running. It would be best to do those measurements from the gauge cluster main power pins.

Changed the blower motor? Wescott just went through a similar bout with his tundra. Blower motor as shitting the bed, he relaxed it and most of his dash went dead. We tried running it through my Toyota software on my laptop to diagnose and I couldn't read his obd port. Took to Toyota, and the new blower motor was bad and causing havoc. New blower motor and good to go.
