Finally got the shocks in

had to move the gas tank to the bed. I cut a hole just big enough for the tank to sit down in the bed then used the original bolt holes to bolt it to the bed.

there isn't much room left in the bed with the tank sitting there. so I decided to build this.

it has been several years since i have been on here. and a lot has changed with my samurai over the past few years. i wanted to put more info and pictures to this post. the pictures below are in April of 2016 from a trip to Moab. i linked the front and put some 35" km2s on it. while i was out there i my tires kept scrubbing and i got tired of not having power steering.

so when i got home i parked the samurai for about a year and a half didnt really work on it much.started working on it and ended up taking the front fenders and grill out. i started working on putting power steering on it and with the way i had the suspension set up i couldnt run toytoa power steering. i had a junk 93 xj sitting around and ended up pulling the power steering box and pump off to put on the samurai. i first made a bracket to hold the power steering pump which turned out pretty good. i couldnt believe i actually made a bracket where the bolt holes actually lined up where they were supposed too.

since the jeep power steering pump had a pulley for a serpentine belt i ordered another pulley from the parts store to weld onto the crank pulley of the samurai.

the next order of business was to some how fit the large XJ power steering box into that tight space. i cut some quarter inch plate and welded it to the frame so i could bolt the box up. surprisingly it all worked

after getting all of that done to the samurai it again sat for about a 6-8 months. i didnt have time to work on it. finally i had about a week and a half off work and decided i wanted to put the fenders back on and get it going again. i knew i wanted something different looking. during this time i took the front drive shaft out and made a new one using the yokes out of a 95 toyota four runner rear drive shaft. i then took the brake master cylinder out and replaced it with a new 96 subaru impreza.

this was the final product after doing these things i took it to the gulches for a run to see how every thing worked out.

yeah i am. i would like to eventually put propane on it.
Don't do that... Fuel injected 1.6 swap is so easy.

I was asking because I have a ton of samurai stuff still laying around. Carb rebuild kit, complete motor with carb, random clutches, flywheels, pressure plates... There's still 1 sammy with a 1.3 at my house, but it has a Weber. Dad has 2, 1 with 1.6 8v and 1 with a 3rz. I'll never need any of this carb stuff, so if you do let me know.

man i would love to put a 1.6 with a auto trans in it but the wiring harness looks like a birds nest in this thing. i tried to clean some of the wiring up about two years ago and the thing didn't run for a month lol. so i put it all back together and said the heck with it. but i may sure enough get up with you on the clutches and stuff.

Mine had a 1.6 16V with the samurai transmission. I just unplugged everything from the 1.3 and tucked it out of the way and ran a thinned sidekick harness for the motor. I'm sure an auto would be a little more involved but running the samurai 5 speed or a 2wd tracker/sidekick 5 speed is pretty simple.
