Article comparing the LS1 to LS6 to FAST 102 Intakes:

They don't give the dyno #'s for whatever reason in the article but a little digging they pick up 15HP with the LS6 swap and 24HP with the FAST setup. This is with a small cam package and stock heads. Big heads and big flowing heads would net even more. This is also RWHP #'s.

Oil Pump Info
Most people suggest an oil pump swap with a large cam swap. IMO, if you are in there why not upgrade? Lots of people claim the LS6 pump flows better but there is a thread arguing by a Lingenfelter tech.

He suggests this pump:
MEL10296 Melling Performance LS1/LS2 Oil Pump is the high pressure/volume oil pump.

I installed it with my hotcam install and love it. At idle you'll see (red spring)50+hot oil pressure(idle) blue spring=40hot oil pressure(idle)

All based on a 5.3L using factory cams from other engines. Good info showing power curves from modification. Spend some time reading and you should get an idea of how a bigger cam will effect your power curve.

Cam Overlap Explained
How to determine cam overlap. Add intake and exhaust durations together, then divide by two. Take the LSA and multiply by two. Subtract duration sum from LSA and it will give you your degrees of overlap.
More overlap = more chop.(if your after "that sound")
A bigger overlap requires a higher idle in a street car. My tuner recommended a cam below 10 degrees. I went slightly over when I built the LS1. Will report back on how satisfied I am.
