O4 WJ College Build

#1
Ok here we go. A little late in the game but better late than ever. Just joined the forum here but have had a build on jeepforum for quite some time now.

Bought the Jeep in December of 2009 and promised myself I wouldnt put any money into it liked I had my previous vehicles. That lasted until June of 2010 when I bought a Rough Country 4" kit. At the time I had just graduated from high school and was coming up on my first semester in college.

Heres the specs:
5.5" hybrid LA's
Iron Rock Offroad 3 link front
Bilstein 5100/5125
IRO Trackbar
JCR Sliders
JKS Disconnects
Teraflex Coils
A bunch of other stuff I cant think of right now.

Jeep when I bought it.

After about two months of having the Jeep with the RC lift, I realized how crappy it was. Went straight to long arms and havnt looked back since. Added some armor on it with the JCR sliders and added a yakima rack to help carry some of my gear. So far Iv got a little over 5k and counting in the grand but have also made it a very capable trail rig in the process.

As it sits now.

My next project is upgrade axles and get rid of the quadradrive. Right now I have a 30 front and 44a in the rear (for those who dont know the 44a uses an aluminum pumpkin and is not the regular 44). Could use some guidance as to what I should go with. Plan to use 34's or 35's in the near future but have to upgrade the axles first. Also I have no idea how to weld so ALOT of guidance is necessary ha.

But for what its worth, this is where im at now and iv got a good bit more planned for it in the next year.

I believe iv talked to him on there before. Wouldn't trade the the dub for anything. Fun as crap to wheel.

ECGS has you covered for the rear end swap that retains all of the abs functions etc.

Some wheeling trips from this past weekend in URE. The new bilsteins allowed quite a bit more flex and I ended up dropping 5 coils, breaking a retainer, and an isolator.

I would think that you could swap in a regular D44 or an 8.8 and use your brake hardware. XJ's came with a D44 in the early years. Nice Grand. I'm not too far if you ever get bored come say hey.

That's a good looking grocery getter! As much as I like black wheels the chrome trail bling looks good in the earlier pics.
Im actually thinking the wheels might get a new graphite paint job soon. Still undecided. I hated the chrome.

Iv decided on keeping the 44a and trussing it. Plenty strong for what I need. Nice to see someone close by.

Did you get your wheels powdercoated or did u rattle can them?
They were like that when I bought them actually. They're jk moabs I got for a smokin deal. 5 wheels and 5 bfg km's for 200 bucks. I felt like I stole them almost. Im almost positive they're rattle canned though.

Switched to a ZJ Grand Cherokee washer bottle tonight and relocated it. The stock one sits in the actual wheel well and gets in the way when fully stuffed.
