Flex joint maintenance?

#1
I took my Daystar joints apart because of some terrible squeaking. I found the ball portion of the joint was rusty and rubbing the bushing "raw". I used grease when I assembled them less than 1000 miles ago. My friend that builds race cars and chassis said I needed to use grease that was specific for polyurethane bushings. It's a VERY thick grease that you need mineral spirits to get it off your skin. He gave me some to use. We will see.

I had to use 1000 grit sand paper to clean the rust off.

Have any of y'all had this same problem? The joints have the bolt that allows you to grease them but the holes inside the joint were filled with hard grease and wouldn't allow new grease to enter, it just came out the other side of the bolt hole.

I have a similar issue with mine. They are rough country joints, but the same design.
Rough country made a gen2 design, but my spheres are the same. Mine don't rust, but they get gummed up bad.
