Total Integrated Power Module

I know this is an odd thing to ask for on here. But a friend of mine has a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 and randomnly it won't start. Just dead. He has taken it to the dealership and has found that it is the "Total Integrated Power Module". It isn't a warranty item and it will cost him $1000 to fix it. So I thought I would reach out and see if you guys could help me with a solution.

He has a work around. If he goes to that module and pushes all the fuses/relays in and hits it (LOL), the truck will start.

Any ideas?

Can he pull the module out and open it up to check the fiberboard on it? It almost sounds like the board is cracked or there is a loose solder joint and the contact will be made when he flexes it by hitting it.
